LinuxCNC HelloWorld
Переглядів 6189 років тому
As is tradition, here's the LinuxCNC "HelloWorld" example. Here it doesn't have a milling head attached but rather a marker pen loosely rubber-banded to the head. Like this it is an over-engineered plotter. :) Off-the-cuff build design as proof-of-concept. Now that I can see that I can get the s/w, electronics & h/w going I'll probably rebuild using one of the more solid frames out there (Ox?) ...

Proximity Door Stuffed, Beeping Constantly. Quick Hack / Fix.

Our door-closed sensor is broken causing the door to beep incessantly. Obviously this annoyed everyone on the floor. Swiping your proximity card paused the noise for a minute. Here's a quick fix for the noise*. [*] I sit next to said door so no security was compromised during the making of this video. :)

Apollo 13 Pinball Demonstration

This is an Apollo 13 Pinball demo. It shows some of what the Apollo 13 pinball does. It doesn't cover a lot of stuff like looping, most missions, inside the machine. Still, it will give you an idea of what an Apollo 13 pinball looks and behaves like. This video was created as there didn't appear to be a video out there that described the Apollo 13. I hope it is of use to you... Kind regards... ...

How I redecal Pinball machines. The first time I attempted redecalling I was super nervous as I didn't want to screw up my pinball or the expensive decals. Great video. I have one of these and when I forgot the combo the locksmith had to drill it out. His technique was to try the common combinations - each corner, lines of numbers etc etc. He gave up and drilled it. It's easy to touch all of the buttons to make it harder to use the UV marker technique. I got a digital lock (ie electronic)_ with a key but it turns out even with my novice lock picking skills I can single pin pick it (not rake it though). So I think I'll stick with this one.

    Guessing the combo would still take longer than picking the lock which a professional can do VERY easily (or any locksmith) or ANYONE with ANY decent tool. So this still wins.

    yes, thats pretty eye catcher info..but, if the user is not in a hurry, and smart, press all those numbers before pressing the right ones..that will leave markings on all. then the would be intruder will think to resort in a different ways. anyway this kind of locks are not considered "HIGH SECURITY LOCKS" it will serve its purpose as "CONVENIENT SAKE" type.

    Well I wasnt expecting to come across this vid, but I did and I watched it..... Im in two minds though: I just brought one of these locks and it does feel more secure, but I guess I didnt realise just how easy it is to past it. BUT - at the end of the day, a determined intruder will find any means to get into any lock (just scroll down and read the comments left by Kyleene Galloway). I got this lock put on my side gates inbetween my home and my neighbours because I dont like having loads of keys: its located chest high so that no one behind me can see, so as much as this vid has made me more self aware, I also choose not to live my life in fear

    can the marker be wiped off with alcohol. i have changed the code and someone is still coming into my house. They take things I usecevertday. Sunday ghey took my hand mirror out of the bathroom and the pads to my ocedar mop. I have spent a fortune on locks and security systems and evetytime they can come in anyway. Lockey was my last lock without success. I got frontpoint security and the very first time I left my home they were in and out without a problem. I've gotten spy cameras they either take the camera or the sd card. I bought a device to help me locate spy equipment in my home but they took the battery out of it while I was still learning to use it. They came back and took the device. There doesn't appear anyway to keep whoever it is out. At least now I see how they have let temselves back in to my home.

      your best bet is hire a physical presence in or outside the property when you leave so there is always someone there on lookout. failing that buy a hidden camera like a wall clock/desk lamp that has in built camera rather than the small box type, you can even get a lightbulb spy camera. my best solution i can think of is build a trap door in the floor to your front and back door, long and wide enough that its impossible to avoid, deep enough so they cant jump out, and hidden ladder for yourself if you forget to disarm it. make sure it can be armed/disarmed so you can walk over it safely and that it blocks phone signals - then as its an air tight space ensure release of petrol, the fumes will render them unconcious long enough for you to arrive and discover them another good way is padbolt your front door from the inside and leave round the back so thief cant access the locks keyway and even barricade the front door from the inside with something heavy so they cant physically get in either way. setup a perimeter alarm , basically an invisible laser that when broken, sends you a text to your phone that someone is there and you have a friend lookout from outside your house in their car for example to snare the thief on there way out and setup your cameras outside your house so you can get a good visual of what the perpatrator looks like, send that to police you must think outside the realm of just locks and go commando when its a repeat offender. one commodity thieves don't have is time so you need to act fast asap

      Michel Meindre Hi Michel. That seems to be the default speed that the "hello world" Linux CNC file runs at without any reconfiguration. It seems like simple protocol to enter your code then press any number of other buttons after you unlock it to keep fingerprint tracking impossible. With that, a person doesn't stand much chance of figuring out the code- even if you only ever press 1 extra button each time. Still easier than a key. For the lock shown, there are 14 buttons. If you only use 4 numbers (why?), you still get 1001 possible combinations. Use 5 and get 2002 possibilities. Better yet, use 6 and get 3003. Let's just say our lock gives us only 5 tumblers for the code. That means a person has a 1 in 2002 attempts chance of getting it right. If they have every possibility with them and attempt the code every 10 seconds, it could take over 5 hours to get it. THAT IS IF THEY GUESSED THE CORRECT TOTAL NUMBER OF BUTTONS REQUIRED IN THE CODE IN THE CODE!

    • @pongmonkey
      @pongmonkey 8 років тому

      True. Habit of pressing the extra buttons would need to be practiced, like the habit of making sure you grabbed keys on the way out the door.

    Counters reveal that payout rate is around 86.9% (coins in to coins out). What amazes me is that this mechanisms processed almost 7 millions coins and still work! Do they get rebuidlds over time? I believe that processing that amount of coins, sometimes dirty, sometimes damaged, handled one by one may wear out mechanisms that must be precise enough to catch any counterfeit ones and keep accepting good ones.

    • @ClarkMills
      @ClarkMills 9 років тому

      mibars Hi there. The thing initially needed tuning; from memory bending the bars in the top of the machine slightly. The mechanisim also was soaked in oil which no doubt helped it survive the decades. When I had it it didn't get much use but was also in fairly good nick; any *real* servicing was done prior to my ownership. Nice to know it had a productive life! :) Interestingly, if this machine is out of tune it will fail in the players favour; good incentive for the owners to keep them tuned no doubt. ;) Cheers... What type of wood putty did you use to fill imperfections? Great job by the way.

    • @ClarkMills
      @ClarkMills 9 років тому

      Hi Eddie. "Builders Bog" is what we call it in NZ, it's an epoxy/plastic wood filler similar to what you use for panelbeating. Its a tin of smelly goo with a tube of hardener; a 2 component mixture that's pinkish and sets in ~10 minutes and is workable like wood for up to an hour. Don't use "normal" linseed putty, that could stain, take forever to dry and dissuade decal adhesion. HTH... Cheers... Clark

    • @eddieortega101
      @eddieortega101 9 років тому

      ClarkMills Oh I see this is similar to what we use in the states called Bondo. It's mainly use on automotive repairs but can also be used on wood. It's a mixture that also uses a hardener. I was hoping to find an alternative as this stuff is pretty smelly but I guess it's the way to go. I"ll be working on a Indiana Jones soon. Thanks for your reply.
